he's got a great disposition - very calm - which is great in this house. He's also done pretty good at night - he's just whined a little bit which is to be expected.

Thought you'd like to see one of your alumni pups!

We purchased a Labradoodle from Birdwalk Farms almost 4 years ago and just LOVE our beautiful Mischka. He is an angel from heaven and is our best buddy.

He has been a therapy dog for three years and is the best thing to come into our lives and the lives of those he visits.

We couldn't be happier!

..... Nelly drives Sisqo crazy sometimes, although they play together a lot. Her favorite toy is whatever he has. She has been great for him. I'm not sure he really knew how to interact with other dogs. We did obedience and agility but the dogs were not allowed to socialize. I wasn't able to do a puppy class with him at the time. Adding to all that, we were attacked by a dog in our neighborhood last January. Consequently, Sisqo really didn't care for other dogs. Nelly has taught him to be a dog again and how to play like a dog! They are good for each other.

....... The girls were absolutely hysterical!!! I had the puppies in the x-pen in the living room. It's sitting on top of an old blanket, and there's a large trash bag under that to protect the carpet "just in case". Well, the poor threadbare blanket has been a challenge for the girls. They found one especially weak spot in the fabric and they have bitten it and dug at it for so long that they finally managed to make about a 6" diameter hole in it. Then silly little Emma decided that she could fit thru the hole to see what's under there. She goes under the blanket and starts running around in the x-pen, under the blanket. Jessie sees this big lump zooming all over the place, and she's pouncing on the lump. Emma's having the time of her life. Then she tries to back out of the hole, but that didn't work, so she turned around and literally popped out --- it looked like a little Jack-in-the-Box, she popped up so high. So both girls spent over an hour playing under the blanket. When Jessie first went thru the hole to get under the blanket, she went absolutely crazy, having so much fun running, running, running! At times both girls were under the blanket, sometimes chasing each other, other times bumping into each other. Other times, one would be under the blanket and the other one would be on top, pouncing on the "lump". They just had the best time. And every single time they came back out thru the hole, they popped into the air about a foot, just like they were shot from a cannon. ......

......I never in a million years realized how much play-time and excitement they miss out on when they don't have someone their own age to rough-and-tumble with. It's just not the same if you have a puppy and an older dog. I'm so glad I got 2!

Hi -

Our little black and white Cockapoo, Willie, is about to turn one year old on April 19 and we thought you might like to see how he turned out. (pictures attached above) He is the cutest dog. Everywhere we go people ask us what kind of dog he is and where we got him

You said, when we were asking about how he would fit in with us, that he would be ready to come and take over. Well, you couldn't have been more right. He pretty much is the center of attention most of the time.

Housetraining was very easy and with a little bit of training he soon learned to ring the bell to let us know when he wanted to go out. Using the clicker method, he could sit, down, leave it, stay and wait from very very early on. He was a star at puppy kindergarten.

Of course, he still has a few things to perfect. A new puppy across the street will cause him to look over his shoulder when we call come, hestitate a moment and keep going to meet up with his friend. As a result we no longer let him off the leash much. As soon as it stops snowing around here (April12 and we are having a snowstorm today!!!) we will be working with him outside more with the ultimate goal of improving his ability to ignore temptation.

He loves people so much that he has a hard time sometimes remembering to stay "off" Need some more work on that but the root of the problem is us since we didn't mind the standing up to us and weren't consistent from the beginning. On the other hand, he waits patiently to allow us to go first in and out of he house and has since the beginning.

He goes with us everywhere. He started at a very young age attending grandchildren sporting events. He loves to go in the car and loves loves loves children and other dogs.

We appreciated that you had acclimated him to the crate before we got him and that you sent along a little toy with familiar scents on it when he traveled as well as providing medicine to give him to prevent illness brought on by stress. Our vet was impressed.

When we picked him up at the airport he was calm and relaxed in his crate and the first thing he did when he was let our was to do a little business. We set the alarm that first night thinking that we would need to take him outside often. When it went off, I am sure he thought "What are these crazy people doing?" The next night we didn't set the alarm and he slept through the night and has ever since-no crying or barking in the crate.

Obviously, we love him and are so glad to have him part of our lives. Thanks for giving him such a good start.

I just want to tell you how pleased we are with our dog! His name is Bailey and his mom was Boots and his Dad was Freckles. He is just about the smartest and best mannered dog anyone has ever seen. You show him a trick once and he learns it. He is great around children and everyone cannot believe how well behaved he is. He never chewed anything he wasn't supposed to. He even puts his toys back into his basket. He was house broken in 7 days.... My friends have bought dogs from other breeders (cockapoos also) and none have the temperament or are as much a family dog as Bailey is. He loves both of my children and loves to play with them and tolerates much hugging and kissing. I cannot thank you enough for our beautiful addition to our family!

On that note, we are interested in purchasing a brother or sister for Bailey. He is 2 1/2 years old now………………..Thanks again!

Good to hear from you Lucile!

Charlie continues to be the "benchmark" labradoodle that everyone wants! He is up to 4 siblings (1 full, 3 halfs) in our Ohio village! Coat feel as soft as velvet. No health problems at all and he will be 5 in May. I'd order another one just like him, but we are staying with one dog at this time.

Hi Lucille! We are the owners of Louie, the "honker" born in the second litter to Velvet and Sam in November 2002. Just thought we'd let you know that Louie is doing great! He's 85 pounds of solid doodle muscle, the cutest dog in South Florida, if not the world. You can see photos of him under the "photos" link on this site--he's on the second page. He still loves his belly rubs! He is the sweetest dog in the world. We are so happy he came to our lives.

Hello, Lucille and Dan. Here is a recent picture of Piper, who is now 7 months old. He has been a great dog, very easy to train, and remarkably calm. Everywhere we take him people are amazed at how calm he is for a puppy. He also puts up with a lot from our five year old and is really gentle with her. Also, everyone who sees him decides they want one too! I have a friend who wants a dog as close to Piper as possible. In your current puppies that are on the website, are the dark ones chocolate and are they available? I can’t tell exactly if they are brown or black.

One is with my daughter at Christmas and the other is from her 1 year old birthday party. Everyone thinks she looks like a stuffed animal. She’s turned out to be a super dog. I got a cockapoo from you 5-6 years ago for my daughter "from Santa Claus". She's been a great companion. They sleep together every night. Mollie loves to swim, play. Great Personality. Thank-you!

Now I am looking at getting another for my other daughter for Christmas.

Preferably a female, black or brown. Timing towards the end of the year, but flexible since Santa's been discovered.

Hi Lucile!

We just got in about an hour ago – just as hot here as it was up there! Tyke was a WONDERFUL traveler – the car makes her sleepy! About halfway back to Asheville, she started screaming– she was hungry! We stopped and gave her a little dried puppy chow in her crate, and she ate it and played with it until she went to sleep! We were going to let her sit in Mom’s lap while I drove, but she wanted to CRAWL, so we put the crate on the backseat so she could see both of us through the front seats, and she was perfectly happy!

Last night, she went straight into her crate, and whined twice for me to let her out to pee. We were on the second floor, so we used the piddle pads – she goes just as soon as you sit her on them. When she was done, I’d put her back in her crate, and she was asleep again within about five minutes.

We have just been exploring her new backyard – she found out that pine cones bite back! Met Pam and her kids with Shoney in Spartanburg this morning on the way back – as soon as I download the pictures, I’ll send them to you – she wasn’t one bit afraid of Shoney.

Thanks for everything, and I’ll be sending the pictures tonight or tomorrow!!!

Here are some updated pictures taken of Brandy at 11wks old. In order to get a good pic, I have to take them when she just wakes up otherwise she won't stay still for pictures.

She already knows the commands sit, down & come. I'm enrolling her in puppy kindergarden in October. She's a joy to have around & I can't believe how great you matched her up with me - she's exactly what I wanted!!

freestylin' Buddy - Gabbie's next

Gabbie is about 14 pounds, a little small, but I wouldn't trade her for the world. What a great personality. She is so full of herself so opposite from Buddie. Mr. Layback and Ms. Full of it all. She is constantly on the run. My husband the big man at 6, 5 loves her to death. She had no introduction problems with Buddie and they appear to be best friends. Though she is the boss. As the trainer says she is just a bitch, need I say more.

She just passed her basic obedenience class and we are working on another. Buddie is doing a trick class now and hasn't missed a trick. Gabbie will be doing some agility classes I think, need to wear off her energy.

But thanks again and probably will be purchasing another from you in the next year or so. We are moving to Maine and the dogs love the boat and water. Have a happy holiday season.

Buddie will do walking front and back up thru legs, already does, swings and turns, shake with two legs, hi fives, playing dead and We start on Thursday so I will tell you more then. Terry Patton our clicker trainer said Gabbie should be in Pet Therapy. So we will be doing that on Thursday too. Buddie is already a certified hospice dog and has done Freestyle dancing so we are polishing his skills for therapy. I can't image Gabbie with Pet Therapy with her energy but she is always willing to perform. Loves to howl.

I will forward the Halloween pictures. Gabbie and I won a prize for best dressed in our class. We are having such a blast with her though I have to admit my back hurts from bending down so much in training to give her her treats!!! Need to put high heals on her.

Buddie is already an accomplished free style dancing dog. We did that a couple of years ago and entered one competition. Admittly, he is much better than I am. He has down all the tricks we learned to the music, Footloose.

I will try Gabbie at free style also, she moves faster than Buddie but we need to get thru advanced obedience first. So far at 9 to 10 months, she sits, heals, shakes, turns on command, sits on pillow and listens to stories, go to her crate without being told (10:30pm), lays down and stays down till I call her, and comes when called. Pretty smart

A lot of folks have the older resident dog and are concerned about introducing a pup. It has yet to not work out - some might take 6 months for full acceptance but it works out.

I had similar concerns when I decided to get a puppy. Katie is 7 years old, and has been an only dog (with cats) for over 3 years. I was afraid that Katie either wouldn't play with the puppy ever, or that she would be too rough. At first, Katie tried to ignore the puppy - hard to do - Andy is very persistent. Now it can get pretty wild. I suspect that Katie was waiting for him to be less fragile before rough housing, and steps things up as he develops.

A good breeder should be able to help you choose a puppy for your situation. Lucile was aware that I was introducing a puppy to an older dog. I'm sure she would have let me know if the puppy I had chosen was unlikely to adapt to the situation.

I thought you'd be happy to know that when I was talking with the pet
trainer at our local Petsmart Store, she asked where we were getting the
puppy from. After I told her she said, "There's some great dogs coming out
of Birdwalk Farm." It sure made me feel good. :) Our Petsmart store is in
walking distance from our home! We are SO excited!
Please let me know when there are "batches in the ovens". :)

Our Birdwalk dog (Charlie) was born in May/02
Just yesterday while I was walking Charlie downtown, we were stopped by about 6 people and they asked all about him. That is a typical scene between having an adorable looking dog, and living in a very friendly village. Right now Charlie looks like a stuffed animal. We keep his coat the same length all over and his last trim was in November. He still has a puppy personality and is very playful.

We met you in Chicago to pick up our newest family member, Clifford, almost 7 years ago this coming summer. He has been the most wonderful pet, and a very loyal friend to all. In a few weeks, we are traveling to Atlanta, and then driving to Nashville. We were wondering how far Birdwalk farms is , and if it is not too far could we come and visit? Everyone who meets Cliff, loves Cliff. We recommended you to another Detroit family, and hear they are awaiting the arrival of their newest family member from Birdwalk.

Birdwalk Farm Owners Say....Dear Birdwalk family,

Here is a picture of Birdwalk's Charley B. McCullough. Everywhere we take him people have a fit over how cute, soft and sweet he is. We really count ourselves lucky to have gotten him. He is very quick to learn. We crate trained him, and he's been completely housebroken for at least two weeks. We are in the process of perfecting heeling on a leash at present. He will sit and stay until released with a whistle, even with a bowl of food in front of him. He has also been around our nieces and nephew ranging in age from two to seven and although he is rough to play with my husband and I at times, he was extremely gentle with all three little ones..... I was amazed!

We would to purchase a female pup from you when he is about a year old... he'll be well settled in by then and we'll be able to focus on training the new family member....
We were looking at the end of November to December. I was afraid that the demand would be very high around Christmas time. How soon do we need to put down a deposit or do whatever is necessary to get on you list? (We definitely want another one of your Birdwalk dogs)....

Thanks again for bringing Charley into this world. We love him dearly.

He loves his toys and we have spent a fortune on them, since he plays so hard, he destroys them quickly. He is also very proud that he was Mr. January on the calendar..hehehe. Birdwalk Farm Owners Say....Hi Laura and LucileI believe my Sierra is Charlies sister, if I remember correctly. Sierra has been dubbed the matriach of the household. She very rarely plays, she stands up on the porch and watches the other dogs play and if they get out of hand she will run down, break it up and run back to her post. Even if I take her to gatherings with other dogs she dosen't want them to play to hard. She is a gentle soul. She is also a therapy dog.Lucile, I don't know what type of mom Sierras mother was (Midnight and Sam), but Sierra is the best. She gives birth with no help needed from me at all. She is amazing. Now my Bella, who is from Cody and Monroe, requires C-sections. But as a mother she is tops also. She has even had a false pregnancy and delivery, that was so sad to watch. She is 16 1/2 inches and 25 lbs of pure love. She is always intently looking into my eyes for some type of command or approval. She is fiesty but always wanting to please everyone. All I can say Lucille is Monroe, Cody, Midnight and Sam rock. If you wouldn't mind sharing alittle about their personalities I would love to hear about them. Birdwalk Farm Owners Say....Charlie just had a check - up at the vet. He is almost 4 years old! I just can't believe it. He has no health issues at all. Everything checks out. He is still just about the happiest dog I have ever met. I will also say that he is lucky to be in a home that has four gentle people to love him because a harsher environment would just crush him. My husband and I joke that the wild beast was bred out of him long ago. Now he is more like a gentle cuddly, loving presence. Right now his coat is long and fluffy. We shave him down 3 times a year. He looks great shaved too, more like a lab shape-except for his long legs. There are now four of your dogs in our Ohio village. All very happy.
